| JACQUELINE FORBES is a 2003 graduate of Spelman College, where she studied political science and sociology. There, she became interested in the lives of underprivileged youth and decided to become a public school teacher in New York City. Jacqueline was chosen to participate in the New York City Teaching Fellows program, and placed at Boys and Girls High School in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn-one of the largest urban high schools in the country. In addition to her work in the classroom, Jacqueline created and directed after-school programs, such as FLORES (Fearless Ladies Overcoming Racism, Eliminating Sexism) – a multicultural self-esteem organization for young women, and also the Young Men and Women of Purpose program – a nationally recognized AmeriCorps Service Learning Project geared toward underachieving high school students which encouraged their self-development through engagement within schools and their communities. Jacquie used her work to inform and develop her Master’s Thesis on the importance of enrichment programs in the social, emotional, and academic development of urban youth. Jacqueline is excited about her work as a Program Director with The Posse Foundation’s newest site, Posse Atlanta. The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains incredible youth leaders from urban public high schools and sends them in “Posses” to top colleges and universities around the country. | College Planning & Exam Preparation | This workshop is an introduction to college readiness where college exams, requirements, and scholarships among other college-related topics will be discussed. |
| RUDOLPH OSWALD STERLING is a native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. His ministry began while he was a teenager, which was evident by the number of successful evangelistic campaigns he conducted while still in high school. He felt the call to full time ministry very early in life but was reluctant and delayed accepting the call until after he had spent some time teaching and preaching. Areas of ministry are of special interest to him include soul winning, worship, stewardship, singles ministries and health & spirituality. Pastor Sterling, had a successful career and a comfortable job in the business sector, and eventually resigned from his job to pursue a degree BA in theology at Oakwood College. He is currently in his final year as a student at the SDA Theological seminary at Andrews University where he is pursuing a Masters degree in Divinity. He is also pursuing an MBA at the University of North Alabama. Pastor Sterling is happily single. He enjoys traveling, flying, tennis, and swimming. | Divine Service Speaker Sabbath, October 6 |
